"I had no idea who has just hit us, and my mind didn't think to consider if they were all right or not, or what circumstances might have caused them to cross the median and strike us. I simply looked at the car in silence. Then I heard a voice that was not my own in my mind as clearly as if it had come from someone seated next to me. It was straightforward and filled with power, and the voice said, 'Let it go!'"
On a cold February night in 2007, a devoted father of four and a seventeen-year-old drunk driver both received life sentences. In one violent, devastating instant, both faced a drastically different - and uncertain - future. But as Chris Williams sat in his demolished vehicle, staring at the car that had just caused the death of his wife, his unborn baby, his nine-year-old daughter, and his eleven-year-old son, he committed to do something extraordinary he would forgive.
That decision launched Chris on a journey toward healing that affected his family and friends, the young man who caused the accident, and an entire community - a community that would face another deadly tragedy just a few days later. Chris's message of forgiveness is an empowering invitation to all who have suffered, however unjustly, to lay down their burdens and let it go.

I picked this up to read in a Deseret book while waiting for my mom to run an errand. I was gripped from the start. I was weeping unabashedly unable to even fathom this man's s experience and his ability to focus on not only his pain but the pain of the young man who hit them and his family. He could have become bitter and angry and demanded retribution but he saw the bigger picture and is a happier person for not going that route and when he honored his beautiful wife and children by asking people if they wanted to help then to forgive someone or perform an act of kindness or share your love with your loved ones and for Valentine's day and to send those stories to his surviving children I was undone. If you read only one book this year-even in your life- i cannot recommend this more highly. It will change your life. If you want to go further donate a few copies to a jail or juvenile center in your area and spread the possibility of changing lives that might otherwise be lost. But read this book. A must-read is the understatement of the year.Product details

Let It Go A True Story of Tragedy and Forgiveness (Audible Audio Edition) Chris Williams Shadow Mountain Books Reviews
This was a very inspiring book. Chris experienced one of the most devastating experiences that anyone could have. But he survived a car accident that took the like of his wife, unborn child, and two other children and went on to help so many others involved in the accident. I was inspired by the way he dealt with this experience.
It is amazing to see how many spiritual experiences Chris experienced. He has done a great job of sharing his emotions and experiences. The story is uplifting and shows just how people can grow from even the worst of experiences. He truly helps his readers understand the power of true forgiveness.
This is a great book - hard to read at times because there are sad parts, but Mr. Williams does an excellent job of sharing how he made it through the grieving process, and how much he and those around him, benefited by his desire to not hold the hate inside him. What a great lesson for us all.
An education on the many facets of forgiveness, forgiving and repentance. Also, a comforting treatment of grief. My sister lost a daughter at 5 months, my parents lost a daughter in her 33rd year. I found so many things that comforted me in this relation of Chris Williams family. I will be passing it on.
A real page turner. The reader is drawn into the heart of a family man who in an instant has suffered a heartbreaking tragedy that for most people would cause bitter, sad, angry feelings, which feelings did indeed enter this family man's thoughts, however his faith in God helped him overcome and conquer these feelings and was able to forgive those involved in the tragedy and set an example of a forgiving heart and Christ like love. For those of us who often wonder what true forgiveness is this book is a must read.
A 17 year old boy made some very bad choices one Friday night in February 2007. He got drunk and then drove his SUV resulting in a high speed crash with the Williams family. The mother, Michelle and her unborn baby, as well as two of the four children, Anna and Ben, were killed instantly. Another boy, Sam, was critically injured. In a moment, Chris Williams’s world changed completely with the loss of half of his family. And, yet, he chose to immediately forgive the young man who caused the accident.
Let It Go by Chris Williams is part memoir, part motivational, and part religious. He truly learned, painfully, how to apply the power of the atonement not just for repentance, but for forgiveness. The book is well written and relatively short so it reads fast. Reading it really makes you want to be a better person and learn from the lessons the author shares.
This is a profound story of faith, endurance, and forgiveness. It was a touching journey through one man's trial as his wife and 2 of his children were killed in an accident caused by a drunk driver. In this great and difficult trial, Chris Williams turned his burden over the Savior as he was told to forgive and let it go.
This was a very humbling story and I had tears in my eyes for much of the book, but I feel I am a better person for having read this book and felt the healing power of God.
This is one of the most moving books I have ever read. Chris really gives you the details about everything that was happening in his mind and his heart from before the accident to everything that transpired afterwards. His insight and perspective has helped me through many difficult times and you are able to relate with him on such a personal level, even without having passed through an experience such as his. Fantastic read, I wish everybody would read this book.
